Bright Lights, Big Christmas by Mary Kay Andrews is the perfect Christmas read。 When Kerry and her brother leave their North Carolina farm to sell Christmas trees on a charming, quirky street corner in Greenwich Village, the Christmas magic begins as Kerry meets Patrick and his delightful son Austin。 This storyline is about second chances, finding love and friendships and learning the importance of family。 I rated it a five。

Great Christmas book sounds like we need to know what happens next with everyone!!

This book was very heartwarming, and it was so easy to get sucked into。 The author did a fantastic job bringing the holiday spirit alive on the page, and it was the perfect book to get me feeling the holiday vibes。 I really enjoyed the premise of this book, all of the secondary characters, and the little community they built together。My only critique was that the relationship between Patrick and Kerry felt a bit rushed and undeveloped。 *Thank you to NetGalley and the author for sending me this A This book was very heartwarming, and it was so easy to get sucked into。 The author did a fantastic job bringing the holiday spirit alive on the page, and it was the perfect book to get me feeling the holiday vibes。 I really enjoyed the premise of this book, all of the secondary characters, and the little community they built together。My only critique was that the relationship between Patrick and Kerry felt a bit rushed and undeveloped。 *Thank you to NetGalley and the author for sending me this ARC in exchange for my honest review。* 。。。more

Did it send me to a dictionary or to the electronic resources to research things I was reading? No, not at all, but it was fun little novel which may put readers in the Christmas spirit, (though that is not my thing)。 None of it was very realistic, considering the story takes place in Greenwich Village, New York, but sometimes we need to let go of reality and the ugliness of the world right now, and just let ourselves read a sweet story that almost feels like a modern day fairy tale。 Almost, not totally。 Kerry and her brother, North Carolina natives, are in Greenwich Village in the days leading up to Christmas in order to sell the trees their family business grows all year for this very reason。 Normally, Murphy and their father handle this task, but the elder of the two is out of commission and the care of his ex-wife, mother of Kerry and Murphy。 Kerry hates the cold, so spending a few weeks in a very old RV (that has special meaning to their mother) is not Kerry's idea of a good time。 Preconceived notions of life in the big city do not hold true for Kerry as she gets to know the patrons who come to buy the trees and the wreaths Kerry makes。 Greenwich Village was portrayed far too much like a small rural town to be realistic, but if you can suspend all thoughts of real life in New York, you can just go with the flow and grow to love the cast of characters who come and go throughout the pages。 There is no working plumbing in the van, which to me would make it unlivable, but the locals welcome Kerry and Murphy to use their bathrooms, showers, and laundry rooms。 That alone was not very realistic, but so be it。 Kerry meets Patrick, a lovely divorced man with a young, precocious and darling little boy who adores Kerry and Queenie, Murphy's dog who is with them the entire time。 With only a few weeks until the season will end, Kerry knows she should not be developing feelings for Patrick and growing attached to his son, Austin, but the heart wants the heart wants。 They all come to know an elderly man they assume is homeless, but who means no harm, and when he starts to show signs of being quite ill, and then disappears, they all start to worry about him, Kerry is determined to find him, though she does not even know his name or where he is staying。 Again, not very realistic for the time and place, but endearing and a good plot twist to reveal some surprises。 A snowstorm will break havoc on plans (again a good literary ploy) and romance might just win out over responsibilities and the desire to be home。 Cute, funny, and warm hearted, this book is a good little escape, but nothing more。 It will not take you much time to read, but a cup of cocoa and a comfy spot to read might be just what we all need right now, and in that regard, Mary Kay Andrews delivered! 。。。more

My first holiday read of the year was a hit! I have said to before and I will say it again。。 I take every opportunity to read a Mary Kay Andrews book。 It is always a pleasure to read and review。 They are the types of books, I always go back to。 Whether set in the south or in NY like Bright lights, Big Christmas。。 you know there will be family, good values and a great story。 A story that will end in love and I feel we absolutely need more of that in this crazy world。 Kerry Tolliver, has to head to NY with her brother to sell their family’s I have said to before and I will say it again。。 I take every opportunity to read a Mary Kay Andrews book。 It is always a pleasure to read and review。 They are the types of books, I always go back to。 Whether set in the south or in NY like Bright lights, Big Christmas。。 you know there will be family, good values and a great story。 A story that will end in love and I feel we absolutely need more of that in this crazy world。 Kerry Tolliver, has to head to NY with her brother to sell their family’s Christmas trees。 Her dad and her brother usually go but her dad is sick and has to stay home this year。 Everybody pitches in, even her mother, who has to help her ex, back to help。 Kerry is not looking forward to the time spent in NY。 Her brother isn’t the easiest would to get along with and to be away and living in a trailer。。 isn’t really her thing。 But she goes and falls in love with Manhattan。 The city is filled with the Christmas spirit and she can’t help but feel it。 Selling the trees is slow at first but Kerry puts her touch on the “stand”, and they help so much。 It’s the little things。 She can’t believe the generous spirit of the locals who have taken such good care of her brother and father over the years。 They offer meals, bathrooms and even the occasional shower。 The neighbors fall in love with Kerry too。 They can’t help but love her kindness and compassion。 While in NY Kerry has her troubles。 Conflicts with her brother, considerable doubt about her future and a possible love connection, that comes at the worst time。 She even finds a person who needs her help but doesn’t want to take it。 This story is all wrapped up in a Christmas bow。。 people come together and rally to get to the finish line of selling trees, getting back home and enjoying the season。 I really liked this story so much。 Can’t wait to read the next Mary Kay Andrews book。 Thank you to Netgalley and the author for my copy for an honest review。 。。。more

***2。5***Good grief I miss early MKA with the humor, wit and chemistry。 As other reviews stated, this was Hallmark/Lifetime lite。 Please get the brother some iron pills, remodel the camper to include a shower (she didn't bathe for 2 days but love interest finds her hot?) and never use a dead bird in a dog's mouth to evoke what exactly。 2nd book in a row that seemed 100's of pages too long for a 288 pg book。Kathleen McInerney still well suited for children's books。 ***2。5***Good grief I miss early MKA with the humor, wit and chemistry。 As other reviews stated, this was Hallmark/Lifetime lite。 Please get the brother some iron pills, remodel the camper to include a shower (she didn't bathe for 2 days but love interest finds her hot?) and never use a dead bird in a dog's mouth to evoke what exactly。 2nd book in a row that seemed 100's of pages too long for a 288 pg book。Kathleen McInerney still well suited for children's books。 。。。more
